Agricultural Economics

The Mission of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agricultural Economics is to engage people in the use of economic analysis to make decisions involving agribusinesses, natural resources, and communities.

The Agricultural Economics program in Weslaco offers research-based education and decision-making tools to support targeted audiences and stakeholders across South Texas.

It provides technical expertise, education programs, and applied research in farm and ranch management, crop and livestock economics, agribusiness finance, risk management, marketing, natural resources, and agricultural policy.

Our goal is to engage our agricultural industry and all stakeholders in using economics to support decision-making, maintain or regain competitiveness, ensure economic sustainability, and support the long-term economic resilience of South Texas.
